Research Paper Instructions

One of the major requirements of this class is for the student to study a special area of the health care field in which he or she has an interest. The main purpose of this project is for the student to gain more depth and more current knowledge on one of the subjects covered in this course.  Therefore at least five scholarly sources must be used and sources more than five years old are not usually acceptable.  Scholarly sources are peer reviewed journals and government data bases (data bases, not web sites; government web sites can be just as biased as any other non-reviewed source).

Note: You should avoid using non-journal Internet websites as sources for this paper. Journal websites containing complete articles including references are acceptable.  See the library guide link above for help in finding these acceptable sources.

The research paper should be relatively comprehensive within the limits that the required length will allow.  The paper will be evaluated on grammatical structure, punctuation, format, etc. as well as the quality of the content.  It should be double spaced using 12 point Times New Roman or Arial font.  The paper should be screened for incorrect spelling and typographical errors and corrections should be made. Careful editing of the paper is expected. The text of the paper must be 6-8 pages in length.  Sources must be cited throughout the paper whenever you use information from a source, using APA format and there must be a bibliography provided at the end of the paper.

Choice of Topic: Students must select one of the topics described in the content file titled: Research Paper Topics.

Submit your paper as an attachment in the Research Paper assignment drop box.  Make sure I receive it no later than the due date indicated on the Course Schedule.  Late papers will be penalized 5 points per day late and papers will not be accepted more than 10 days late.

Total points for research paper = 100 points
